Build a professional portfolio

Scattered files become a body of work when you decide what deserves to stand beside what. A professional portfolio is less a storage cupboard than an argument: this is what I can do, this is how I think and this is the standard I can repeat. Choose a small number of pieces that match the work you want next. Give each enough context to explain the brief, your precise contribution, constraints, decisions and outcome; a strong case study makes the thinking visible instead of relying on a polished final image. Remove confidential material, obtain permission for client or team work and anonymise personal data where necessary. Make the portfolio easy to navigate, caption images, provide meaningful alt text, check it on a phone and ask somebody in the target field what remains unclear. Count it complete when a stranger can understand your strongest relevant work and contact you without a guided tour. Add it if your experience is better than the way it is currently presented.
