Complete a silent-film season
Run a short, curated season of silent-film screenings that explores a theme, director, era or national cinema. Choose a manageable season length (for example four to eight weekly or fortnightly screenings), select a mix of public-domain titles and cleared archive prints, and decide whether each screening will feature live accompaniment, recorded scores or contextual talks. Plan each screening around a clear technical brief: confirm the venue’s projection and sound format, book a projectionist or technical lead, and arrange licensed music or an accompanist. Check public-performance rules and music licensing for live or recorded accompaniment, and prioritise archive sources for restored prints and accurate running speeds. Create a simple audience programme: short curator notes, intertitle transcriptions or captions, and an optional pre- or post-screening introduction or Q consider ticketed and concessioned pricing to cover rights, venue and accompanist costs. Finish the season with a recorded summary (audience numbers, costs, what worked) to inform future programming, and store clear records of rights agreements and any materials provided by archives or rights holders for repeat screenings.
