Contact Your MP or Elected Representative

A public decision can feel remote until you put your own street, work or experience into the record. Contacting an elected representative is a small act of democratic participation: one clear message that tells the person representing your area what is happening and what you want them to do. Identify the correct representative for your address and use their official contact details. Write in your own words, include your postcode when required, explain the issue briefly, state the action you are requesting and attach only evidence you are entitled to share. Keep the message factual and respectful, even when the issue is urgent. Protect other people’s personal information, do not send threats or abuse and use emergency or casework services where immediate safety is at stake. Representatives may prioritise constituents and cannot always intervene in courts or individual decisions. Count it complete when you have sent a specific, considered message or attended an official surgery and recorded any response or next step. Add it if you want concern to become part of the formal conversation rather than remain something you only discuss with people who already agree.
