Create a photo album together
Choose a shape and a story, gather your favourite photographs and make a physical record you’ll enjoy returning to. Begin with a short planning session: decide on an overall order (chronological, theme, people or events), pick a page size and whether you’ll make a handmade scrapbook or a printed photo book. Collect and sort images on a table or on-screen so everyone can suggest favourites and draft a simple page-by-page plan. Work in small teams or pairs on each page: select one main photo, add one or two supporting pictures, and write a short caption or memory (handwritten or typed). Use archival corners or double-sided photo tape for attachment; leave a margin for handling and avoid over-crowding pages. Allow an hour per handful of pages so conversation stays relaxed — this is as much about sharing stories as finishing a product. If you choose a printed photo book, use an online builder or local print service; export and check layouts at 100% on-screen, then order a proof copy if you can. For handmade books, use acid-free pages and consider using a simple ring binder, stitched signature or an off-the-shelf scrapbook album that accepts mounted pages. Finish with a decorated title page and a short index or table of contents so later readers can find people and events quickly. Store the finished album flat or upright on a shelf away from direct sunlight and high humidity. If you want multiple copies, order a digital-printed run or scan and archive a high-resolution PDF. Keep the process social: pair quiet editing sessions with a shared cup of tea, or make the activity a small celebration with snacks and music.
