Create a shared seasonal bucket list

Gather two or more people and make four short seasonal lists—one for each season—by combining individual ideas, negotiating priorities and scheduling one achievable item per season. Start with a short independent brainstorm (5–10 minutes each), then read items aloud without criticism and mark overlaps. Prioritise three items per season: one ‘commit to schedule’ item for the next three months, one ‘maybe’ item and one inexpensive ritual or tradition. Decide dates or tentative months for anything that requires booking or group coordination. Use a simple visible board or shared digital page to capture items, assign a small ownership role (planner, booker, reminder) for each scheduled item and add practical notes (cost, accessibility, age limits, weather sensitivity). For recurring items, agree whether they are one-off or seasonal traditions. At the end of each season hold a short review: what you enjoyed, what felt like pressure, and which items to carry forward, revise or drop. Keep the project low-cost by including free or low-cost ideas alongside larger ambitions; where spending is required, discuss contribution models (group pot, rotating host, individual pay). Make sure safety and skill needs are flagged during planning and, where appropriate, book qualified providers (e.g., instructors for water or height sports). Use the seasonal structure as a planning cadence rather than a rigid rule—items that are weather-dependent can be moved between seasons with group agreement. This activity works for couples, families, friend groups and community groups. It is easily adapted for remote participation by using a shared document or a collaborative board app, and for mixed-ability groups by offering alternative versions of the same experience (e.g., picnic at an accessible park instead of a steep-hike viewpoint).
