See Edenbridge Bonfire Night and the Celebrity Guy

More than a thousand flaming torches pass through Edenbridge in a carnival procession of costumes, bands and illuminated floats. Later, crowds gather at the Recreation Ground for fireworks and the burning of two enormous effigies: Guy Fawkes and the mysterious Celebrity Guy, an eleven-metre-tall satirical figure whose identity is revealed close to the event. The humour, craft and noise make this Kent bonfire celebration quite different from an ordinary fireworks display. Edenbridge Bonfire Society has organised the town's November celebrations since 1928, and the volunteer-run event raises money for local good causes. The torchlit procession has its own elaborate traditions, while the Celebrity Guy is a relatively recent addition that turns the year's news into a spectacular piece of public satire. The person or subject chosen changes each year, so last year's effigy is not a preview of this year's. The 2026 celebration is on Saturday 7 November . The town procession is free to watch and due to start at approximately 6.30pm ; the fireworks at Edenbridge Recreation Ground, TN8 5HL , are expected around 8.30pm and require a ticket . Town-centre roads close from 6pm and timings may change. Check the society's practical advice and ticket information before travelling; alcohol is not permitted in the fireworks field. Add this to your list and see how Edenbridge gives Bonfire Night its own thoroughly eccentric Kent character.
