Go a Week Without Makeup

Go a Week Without Makeup

A week without make-up is a short experiment in routine, time and self-perception, not a verdict on cosmetics. You might discover which products you genuinely enjoy, how much effort the ritual takes or how your face feels when it is not being prepared for other people. The goal is curiosity and choice rather than proving that one appearance is more authentic. Choose seven ordinary days, including work or social plans, so the experiment reflects real life. Remove make-up gently on the first evening and keep basic skincare steady: cleanse without scrubbing, moisturise if needed and use suitable sun protection. Going without foundation does not mean abandoning treatment prescribed for a skin condition, and it does not require discarding products you may happily use again. Notice both comfort and discomfort without inspecting every pore. Record minutes saved, skin sensations, comments from others and any urge to apologise for your face. If a product seemed to cause itching, blistering or a persistent rash, stop using it and seek appropriate pharmacy or medical advice; cosmetics can trigger contact dermatitis. Avoid replacing make-up with an aggressive new skincare regime that makes it impossible to tell what changed. Prepare a simple response to unsolicited remarks and remember that colleagues, friends and strangers do not need an explanation. At the end, decide product by product what earns its place: pleasure, creativity and confidence are as legitimate as convenience. Completion is seven days in which make-up is optional and you learn something useful about your routine—not enduring distress, judging anybody else's choices or promising never to wear it again.
