Go on a Road Trip

Load the boot, choose the first stretch of road and leave enough room for a handwritten sign to change the day. A road trip turns the space between destinations into the experience: a breakfast stop, an unexpected viewpoint and a town you would never have met by air. Give the route a loose thread rather than a minute-by-minute schedule. Follow a coastline, link national parks, trace family history or travel through music and food, balancing worthwhile detours with realistic driving time. Check the vehicle, licence, insurance, breakdown cover, charging or fuel stops and rules for every place you will drive. Do not start tired, plan at least a 15-minute break after roughly two hours, share driving safely and stop if concentration drops. Count it complete after a journey in which at least one unplanned stop became part of the story. Add it if you value the freedom of the road enough to plan the safety, rest and cost that make that freedom possible.
