Donate Books

Sort through the books you no longer need and give them somewhere they can be useful again. That might mean donating to a charity shop, school, prison reading programme, community library, hospital, refugee support organisation or another local project. It is a simple way to clear space without throwing usable books away, and the right donation can put them directly into someone else’s hands. Not every organisation accepts every type of book, so check first. Some charities want recent fiction and non-fiction in good condition, while others may specifically need children’s books, textbooks or particular subjects. Damaged, mouldy, heavily annotated or very outdated books are often unsuitable, and encyclopaedias or old technical manuals can be difficult to rehome. Go through your shelves, separate out anything you are genuinely ready to part with, then match the books to an organisation that can use them. Box or bag them securely and deliver them according to the recipient’s guidance. Add this to your list and turn an overfilled bookshelf into something useful for someone else.
