Make Paper
A thin layer of wet fibre lifts from the vat looking almost impossible to handle. Pressed, dried and peeled away later, it becomes a sheet with its own edges, texture and tiny traces of whatever material went into it. Start with clean recycled paper or prepared plant fibre, soak and pulp it, then use a mould and deckle to catch an even layer from the water. Couching the sheet onto cloth, pressing out moisture and drying it flat are where the craft becomes clear. Protect drains from pulp, keep electrical blenders away from spilled water and use only fibres and additives you understand. Recycled input does not automatically make every method low-impact, so reuse water where suitable and avoid decorative material that prevents later recycling. Count it complete when one dry sheet can be lifted, written on or turned into something else. Add it if making the surface feels as interesting as deciding what to put on it.
