Perform in an Amateur Dance Showcase
An amateur dance showcase gives learners a real audience without the ranking and elimination of a competition. Studios, community companies, colleges and local theatres use showcases to present work developed in classes. The experience includes rehearsal, backstage coordination and the moment a practised routine becomes a public performance. Choose a group, duet or solo piece appropriate to your experience and agree the choreography, music edit and staging early. Rehearse entrances, spacing, transitions and the ending as carefully as the headline moves. A technical or dress rehearsal is where you learn how the floor, lighting, costume and other performers affect the routine. Confirm participation fees, ticket expectations, filming arrangements, safeguarding rules and who is responsible for music and costume. Tell the choreographer about injuries or access requirements. Use footwear suited to both the movement and the stage surface, and warm up away from entrances and equipment. The show commonly lasts two to four hours, supported by several weeks of rehearsal. Complete the activity by rehearsing a named piece and performing it from entrance to final position in front of a live audience.
