Ride a segway
A Segway feels improbable for the first few metres: the platform stays beneath you, a slight lean becomes motion and the machine responds before conscious steering feels natural. Then the wobble settles and the route opens up. The self-balancing system does not remove the need for control. Kerbs, pedestrians, slopes and sudden turns still demand attention, which is why a supervised introduction and practice area matter more than the machine's approachable appearance. Use a lawful guided venue or private site, follow the instructor's route and wear the supplied helmet. Check operator age, weight, mobility and footwear requirements in advance; in the UK, powered transporters cannot generally be used on public roads or pavements. Count it complete after a supervised ride in which you can start, steer and stop confidently. Add it if you want to try an unusual piece of transport technology without needing a long course.
