Learn to Scuba Dive with a Certified Instructor

A scuba diver documenting a coral nursery in the Florida Keys.

The first calm breath underwater feels impossible for a second, then the bubbles rise and a whole new kind of movement begins. Sound changes, weight falls away and even a familiar coastline becomes another environment below the surface. Learn through a recognised training programme with a certified instructor, starting with medical screening, theory and confined-water skills before an open-water dive. Progress at your own pace; stopping because you are cold, anxious or uncomfortable is good judgement. Never dive alone or beyond your qualification. Complete the medical questionnaire honestly and obtain medical clearance when indicated; check equipment, gas, depth, current, visibility, ascent and emergency plans with the instructor. Do not fly or travel to altitude inside the required post-dive interval, and use a conservation-minded operator that prevents contact with coral and wildlife. Count this complete when you have safely completed an instructor-led open-water dive or the recognised course standard you chose. Add it when you want a skill that opens another part of the planet, provided careful preparation matters as much as the view.
