Smoke a Cuban cigar in Cuba

For an adult who already smokes cigars, having one in Cuba can connect the experience with the country's long tobacco-growing and hand-rolling tradition. That cultural context does not make tobacco safe, and this activity is not a recommendation for a non-smoker to begin. If you choose to do it in the future, learn how Cuban tobacco is grown and made, obtain a genuine cigar through a lawful source, and use only a place where smoking is permitted and other people will not be exposed. One cigar, taken slowly, is enough; quantity is not part of the challenge. All forms of tobacco are harmful and there is no safe level of exposure to tobacco smoke. The UK government currently advises against all but essential travel to Cuba because severe disruption affects power, fuel, transport, communications, medical services and flights, so do not plan this as a leisure activity now. When advice permits leisure travel again, recheck age, smoking, entry and customs rules before spending. Keep this as a future aspiration. Count it as complete only if official advice permits the trip and you are an adult existing smoker who lawfully smokes one genuine Cuban cigar in Cuba without exposing unwilling people to second-hand smoke. If health, law, travel advice or personal preference makes that inappropriate, leave the activity undone.
