Snowboard

A snowboarder holding a board looks across a snow-covered mountain range.

The first clean turn changes everything: the board stops feeling like something attached to your feet and starts tracing a line across the snow. Even a gentle beginner slope can feel completely different once balance, edge and momentum begin to work together. Start with a qualified lesson and learn how to fall, stop, use heel and toe edges and link controlled turns before seeking steeper ground. An indoor snow centre can teach the same foundations when mountains and winter weather are out of reach. Wear a helmet, goggles, gloves and waterproof layers; beginners may also value wrist guards. Follow piste signs and local rules, check lift and weather conditions, and choose terrain that leaves enough control to stop or change direction around other people. Count it complete after riding a beginner slope under control and linking turns in both directions. Add it if you want a physical skill whose small breakthroughs are unmistakable—and a reason to see winter as a landscape to move through rather than endure.
