Snowbombing | Austria

Ski boots give way to dancing shoes and Mayrhofen turns from Alpine resort to music venue. Snowbombing runs across pistes, mountain stages, clubs and streets, so a day can move from chairlift laps to a forest set and finish long after the last gondola stops. The festival began in 1999 and now occupies six spring days in the Zillertal Alps. Music is the organising idea, but snow conditions, altitude and a village full of people carrying skis shape the experience. For 2027 the official core dates are 5 to 10 April, and attendance is restricted to adults aged 18 or over. Book only through the official ticket agent and price the whole package: the wristband, required accommodation, lift pass, equipment, lessons and transfers are separate choices. Bring mountain layers as well as venue clothes, pace nights around skiing ability and arrange insurance that covers planned snow sports. Add this to your list when both the lineup and the slopes appeal.
