Hike to a Hollywood Sign viewpoint

The Hollywood Sign standing clearly on the hillside above Los Angeles.

The white letters appear and disappear between chaparral and bends in the trail, growing less like a logo and more like an enormous piece of hillside engineering. From above, the familiar word faces away while Los Angeles opens behind it. You cannot legally stand beneath, touch or climb the Hollywood Sign: it is fenced, monitored and closed to public access. The legitimate activity is to follow an authorised Griffith Park route to a public viewpoint in front of or above the letters. Choose a route that matches your fitness, check current closures and fire conditions, start early in hot weather and carry water and sun protection. Park lawfully, respect residential streets, remain on trails and never cross the security perimeter in pursuit of a closer photograph. Count it complete when you have reached an authorised viewpoint with a clear view of the Hollywood Sign. Add it if seeing a global symbol from the dusty, living landscape that holds it sounds better than seeing it through a windscreen.
