Start a Side Project
Choose one idea small enough to begin this week and make a version that exists outside your head. A side project might be a newsletter, community event, small tool, research experiment or handmade product; its value comes from finishing and learning, not immediately becoming a business. Projects create evidence of initiative and give you room to practise skills your main work may not use. They also expand easily, so defining a first deliverable and a stopping point protects the rest of your time. Write a one-sentence purpose, set a modest deadline and decide what “done” means before choosing software or branding. Check employment contracts and intellectual-property rules if the project overlaps your job. Add this to your list to build something self-directed and deliberately limited.
