Swim in the To Sua Ocean Trench, Samoa

To Sua first appears as a circle of impossible blue at the bottom of a green sinkhole. The swim begins before the water: you descend a long wooden ladder toward a tidal pool about thirty metres below the garden. Once in, the scale changes. Rock walls rise around clear salt water connected to the ocean by lava tubes, while a small platform offers a place to pause. Stronger movement can occur with tide and swell, so this is a controlled swim, not a place to show off. Official hours and admission should be checked before the journey; the published rate is 15 Samoan tala for adults and 5 for children. Use the ladder only if you are confident with heights and climbing, follow staff advice, and do not enter in unsafe conditions. Bring swimwear, reef shoes and a towel. Count this complete when you have safely descended, swum in the trench and climbed back out under the site's rules. The memorable part is the whole sequence: garden, ladder, cool blue water and the realisation that the ocean is moving through the rock around you.
