Walk a glass skywalk on Tianmen Mountain in China

Visitors crossing the glass walkway fixed to the cliff on Tianmen Mountain.

The cliff is visible beneath your feet before your body has decided whether to trust it. On Tianmen Mountain, a glass skywalk follows the rock face high above the forest, turning a short section of the summit route into a precise conversation with height. The mountain is a full-day outing reached through its cableway and scenic routes; the glass section is only one part. Walk at your own pace, use the supplied shoe covers and keep moving without blocking others. Looking outward at the cliffs and road below often feels steadier than staring down through every panel. Operations change with maintenance and weather. In May 2026 the East Line glass walkway closed temporarily while the Panlong Cliff and West Line walkways remained open, so check the current route before travelling. Allow four to eight hours, wear secure shoes and follow every closure, capacity control and staff instruction. Count this complete when you have crossed an officially open Tianmen Mountain glass skywalk without bypassing a safety rule. The achievement is not performing fearlessness for a camera; it is noticing the landscape while your instincts and the engineered path negotiate with each other.
