Teach a class

A teacher leading a training session for students seated in a classroom.

The room changes when somebody asks the question your plan did not predict. Teaching a class is the moment knowledge stops being something you possess and becomes something you must arrange so other people can test, practise and use it. Choose one clear outcome for one defined audience, then build backwards: a short explanation, a worked example, guided practice and time for participants to try independently. Fewer ideas taught well will travel further than a crowded set of slides. Confirm the venue or online setup, group size, access needs, safeguarding requirements and your permission to use every image or handout. Offer materials in accessible formats, explain unfamiliar terms, allow different ways to participate and prepare a recovery route when an exercise runs long or technology fails. Count it complete after delivering the planned session and gathering enough feedback to improve the next version. Add it if there is something you understand well enough to help another person cross the difficult first steps.
