Try CrossFit

CrossFit is a branded strength-and-conditioning method built around constantly varied functional movements performed at an intensity relative to the participant. Classes combine coaching, measurable workouts and a strong group atmosphere. The unfamiliar names and equipment can look intimidating, but official CrossFit guidance says each workout can be scaled to the person doing it. A typical hour includes a warm-up, technique or strength work, the Workout of the Day and a cool-down. Depending on the session, you might practise a lift, row, run, use kettlebells or perform adapted gymnastic movements. The coach should change the load, repetitions, movement or pace so that a beginner can take part without copying the advanced version. Use a licensed CrossFit affiliate and tell the coach that it is your first session. Many gyms require an introduction or on-ramp course before normal classes. Focus on movement quality, ask what the scaling options are and avoid adding speed or weight before you can hold the technique consistently. Allow about 60 minutes, with extra time for an initial briefing. Complete the activity by attending one coached beginner or introductory CrossFit class, finishing the scaled workout and understanding how your version differed from the prescribed workout.
