Do the Taunton Ciderthon

Run a half marathon, stop for cider on the way, then somehow persuade your legs to start moving again. The Ciderthon mixes distance running with tasting stops, costumes, music and a festival atmosphere, so the aim is very different from chasing a personal best. Earlier editions were held near Taunton in Somerset, including events at Sheppy’s Cider, where runners tackled either the half marathon or a shorter 5K with cider tastings built into the route. The event was inspired by France’s Marathon du Médoc, taking the same basic idea of combining endurance running with local drink and giving it a West Country identity. The modern Ciderthon still follows that formula: the organiser currently offers a half marathon and 5K with multiple cider tasters, a finisher pint, medal, live music and other festival elements. It is explicitly an 18+ event. There is one important update to the title: the Ciderthon is no longer currently staged in Taunton . The organiser’s next advertised event is at Culden Faw, Henley-on-Thames, on 17 July 2027, with the half marathon priced at £50 and the 5K at £35. If the activity is intended to remain specifically about the historic Taunton edition, keep the title as-is; if it is meant to be completable now, I would rename it simply Do the Ciderthon . Either way, train for the running first and treat the cider as part of the event rather than your hydration strategy.
