Try Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates uses a sliding carriage, springs, straps and a footbar to add support and resistance to controlled Pilates movements. The machine can make small changes in alignment and effort very noticeable, which is part of the appeal. A beginner class is a practical introduction to the apparatus and the method behind it. The teacher will explain how to get on and off, change the springs and position the carriage safely before guiding a sequence for the whole body. Movements are usually deliberate rather than rushed, with attention to breathing, control and range. Spring settings are not simply difficulty levels, so follow the teacher rather than changing them yourself. Book a genuine beginner or introductory session with a properly trained Pilates teacher, ideally in a small class where individual correction is possible. Tell them about injuries, pregnancy or health conditions in advance. Wear close-fitting stretch clothing; many studios request grip socks and provide the reformer and other props. Most group sessions last 45 to 60 minutes. Complete the activity by taking one supervised beginner Reformer Pilates class and learning how to use the carriage, straps and springs safely for at least one short sequence.
