Keep this goal on hold rather than turning danger into romance. The Central African Republic contains equatorial forest, savannah and communities whose cultural and natural heritage deserve attention, but a life-list entry does not justify ignoring the people who assess current security conditions. As of August 2026, the FCDO advises against all travel to the whole country except Bangui, and against all but essential travel to Bangui. Armed conflict, kidnapping, limited government services and severely restricted consular support make ordinary independent tourism indefensible at present. Do not book or attempt this activity under the current warnings. Monitor official advice over the long term and revisit the goal only after a sustained improvement in security, transport, medical support and insurable access. Add this to your list as a future possibility, with no deadline and no pressure to force it.
