Visit Cyprus

Rocky Mediterranean coast and clear water at Vrexi Beach near Paphos, Cyprus.

A Cyprus journey can move from morning light on the limestone coast to the cool shade of a Troodos village, then finish inside Nicosia's walls where an old city still meets a modern divided capital. Those shifts happen over short distances, giving the island a story that is coastal, mountainous and historically layered rather than one long stay beside a pool. Allow a week or two and build the route around contrast. Pair a coastal base near Paphos, Larnaca or the south-east with archaeological sites, then spend time in the Troodos mountains or rural villages and at least a day in Nicosia. Meals, crafts and ordinary town life deserve space between beaches and monuments. The practical budget covers accommodation, food and travel within the island, not the international journey. Summer heat and wildfire risk can make walking and driving harder; a hire car is useful but road rules and insurance need checking. Cyprus remains divided, so use designated crossing points and read current official guidance before entering areas outside the Republic's effective control. Count this as complete after several days that bring together two distinct parts of Cyprus, including one cultural or historic place and one coastal or mountain landscape. A route with that contrast is enough to reveal why the island cannot be reduced to its weather.
