Encounter the Galápagos Islands Responsibly

A Galápagos giant tortoise moving through its protected island habitat.

In the Galápagos, sea lions sleep across paths, marine iguanas gather on black lava and birds behave as though people are only another passing species. The closeness is remarkable precisely because strict boundaries protect it. Plan through current Ecuadorian and Galápagos authorities: entry controls, transit card, park fee, biosecurity inspection, authorised sites and guide requirements can change. Choose an itinerary by habitat and season rather than trying to collect every island. Keep the required distance, never touch, feed or surround wildlife and take no natural object. Clean footwear and equipment between sites, use refillable water, stay on marked routes and follow guide instructions for snorkelling, boats and photography. Check current Ecuador travel advice and medical evacuation cover. Count it complete after a lawful visit to at least one protected visitor site while following every biosecurity and wildlife rule. Add it if you want proximity to extraordinary animals to teach restraint as clearly as it creates wonder.
