Visit Greenland

The first iceberg changes the scale of everything. Beyond it are towns bright against bare rock, fjords that replace roads and a living Greenlandic culture shaped by Arctic seasons rather than by a visitor's idea of wilderness. Build the trip around one or two regions instead of trying to cross the world's largest island. Nuuk offers museums and contemporary life; Ilulissat brings you close to the icefjord; smaller communities reward time, local guidance and respect for everyday routines. Weather can disrupt flights, boats and connections with little notice, so keep buffer days and suitable insurance. Follow current entry and travel advice, book scarce transport and accommodation early, dress in layers and use qualified local guidance for remote land, ice or water. Count it complete when you have spent meaningful time in a Greenlandic community and experienced the landscape without treating it as an empty backdrop. Add it if you can travel slowly enough to let weather, culture and distance set the pace.
