Visit Serbia
Serbia brings together lively cities, Orthodox monasteries, riverside fortresses and mountain landscapes. It is a strong choice for travellers who want substantial history and food culture without following the most familiar Western European route. Use Belgrade as one possible starting point, then add a contrasting place such as Novi Sad, a monastery region or a national park. A few days lets you move beyond headline sights and notice the mix of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Yugoslav and contemporary influences. Check current entry and travel advice immediately before booking, especially if an itinerary involves Kosovo or a land-border crossing. Register accommodation as required, use recognised crossings and make sure travel insurance covers every part of the route. Count this as complete after spending at least two full days in Serbia and experiencing both a cultural or historic site and ordinary local life beyond an airport or hotel. A route that includes two contrasting places will make the trip more representative.
