Explore Seychelles

A bright turquoise bay edged by forest in Seychelles.

Seychelles is often reduced to one immaculate beach, but the journey becomes richer when granite paths, forest, creole food and the practical rhythm of ferries sit beside the clear water. Mahé, Praslin and La Digue each change the scale of island life. Stay long enough to move beyond arrival day. Choose a safe swim, a nature walk and an inter-island journey, then leave space for weather to decide the order. The best beach is the one whose conditions suit that day, not necessarily the photograph you planned around. Check current entry and travel advice, insurance, ferry or flight conditions and local weather. Rip currents and seasonal winds can make apparently calm beaches dangerous, many beaches have no lifeguard, and southern-tip beaches may be unsuitable for swimming. Ask locally, obey signs, use lifejackets on boats and protect valuables. Count this complete after experiencing at least two different island environments without treating the sea as automatically safe. Add it if you want beauty with texture: a journey where the path through palms, the boat crossing and the changing water matter as much as the postcard view.
