Visit Somalia
Somalia's Indian Ocean coast, old trading cities, poetry and layered cultures offer a story far larger than the country's security headlines. Liido's blue water and Mogadishu's architecture hint at a journey many people would value if safe, ordinary travel becomes possible. That journey should not be planned now. Current UK advice is against all travel to most of Somalia and against all but essential travel to the remaining named areas; terrorism, kidnapping, armed violence and severely limited consular support make leisure travel an unacceptable risk. Keep the activity as a future ambition. If advice changes materially, rebuild the plan from current official guidance, entry rules, local security expertise, insurance and medical evacuation arrangements rather than reusing an old itinerary. Count it complete only after a future lawful visit made when official advice supports ordinary travel, with meaningful time in the country rather than an airport transit. Add it if you want to know Somalia through its people and places—but wait until doing so no longer asks you or others to carry today's risk.
