Visit the San Siro football stadium, Italy

The green pitch and tiered stands inside San Siro stadium in Milan.

The red roof girders appear above the Milan streets before the full stadium does. Inside, the steep tiers draw every sightline towards the pitch, and a building known from televised matches becomes a physical place of concrete ramps, narrow tunnels, club colours and decades of shared football history. There are two honest ways to experience San Siro. A match gives you the crowd and the live stakes; the official Museum and Tour gives you time to notice the building, with club memorabilia, dressing rooms, the mixed zone, players' tunnel, pitchside area and grandstand. The standard tour takes about an hour, while a fixture requires several hours around the event. Tour access and opening times can change at short notice on match and event days, so check the official calendar before travelling. The museum has a ramp, lift and dedicated wheelchair routes, although the ordinary tour includes some stairs; security, bag and ticket rules are stricter for fixtures. The practical cost range covers admission, not travel to Milan. Count this as complete when you have gone inside San Siro for either the stadium tour or a match and spent enough time to understand both the pitch and the structure around it. A photograph from the piazza records the exterior, but it misses the shift in scale that happens once the stands rise around you.
