Visit The Traitors’ Castle in Scotland

Ardross Castle, the Scottish filming location for The Traitors, seen across lawns and trees.

Turrets above the trees, sweeping lawns and a grand Highland house that suddenly feels very familiar: Ardross Castle is the Scottish setting of The Traitors. For fans, the appeal is seeing the real place behind all those breakfasts, whispered alliances and round-table accusations. There is one essential catch: the castle and estate are private and currently closed to public visits, so this is an ambition to save for a legitimate future opportunity. Ardross stands near Alness in Ross-shire, north of Inverness, and is used for both the UK and US versions of the programme. Its Scottish Baronial appearance owes much to architect Alexander Ross, who remodelled the earlier house in the nineteenth century. Formal gardens and more than 100 acres of parkland surround the building. Behind the television drama is a country estate with a history stretching well beyond the cameras. As checked on 26 October 2026, the owners offer no individual visits or tour parties, and the grounds are closed to the public too. It is not a hotel, and you cannot book an overnight room. Although Ardross operates as an exclusive-use venue for private events and filming, its website currently states that there is no availability for 2026 or 2027. Do not travel expecting entry, drive into the estate or assume a television-location tour includes access. A visit would count when you have entered Ardross Castle or its grounds with the owners’ permission, perhaps as an invited guest at an authorised event or through a visiting opportunity announced in future. Until then, keep it on your list without booking a trip around it. The official Ardross Castle website has photographs and estate history; check its current access notice before making plans. Neither public tours nor future opening are promised.
