Keep Ukraine’s Tunnel of Love for a Safer Future

Green trees arching around the railway known as the Tunnel of Love near Klevan, Ukraine.

Near Klevan, trees curve around a working railway to form the green corridor known as the Tunnel of Love. The image remains a compelling future journey: an industrial line gradually shaped into a place that looks imagined, within a country whose present reality cannot be separated from war. Do not arrange a leisure visit while official advice warns against all or all but essential travel in Rivne region. For now, learn about the place and Ukraine from Ukrainian sources, keep any itinerary unbooked and reassess it only when the security situation and official advice permit ordinary tourism. As of 31 August 2026, the FCDO advises against all travel within 50 kilometres of the Belarus border in Rivne and against all but essential travel elsewhere in the region; missile and drone attacks occur across Ukraine and airspace is closed. A future visit must also confirm lawful public access, train operations, mines and unexploded ordnance guidance, alerts, curfews, insurance, shelter, transport and local authority instructions. Never stand on an active track for a photograph. Count it complete only after leisure travel is officially supportable and you have made a lawful, insured visit without entering an operational railway corridor unsafely. Add it now if the place matters to you, but let the ambition preserve attention for Ukraine rather than pretending the current risk can be edited out.
