Visit the London Aquarium

Step beneath the South Bank and move through tanks filled with sharks, rays, jellyfish, tropical fish and other marine life at SEA LIFE London Aquarium. The route takes you through a series of themed habitats, with large viewing windows, underwater tunnels and close-up displays designed to show animals from very different aquatic environments. The aquarium sits inside County Hall beside the London Eye and is one of the capital’s major family attractions. Its collection includes freshwater and marine species from around the world, alongside conservation messaging around oceans, habitats and threatened wildlife. It is best treated as a wildlife attraction rather than a substitute for seeing animals in the wild, but the scale of some of the displays makes it a strong introduction to marine life. Allow a couple of hours for a normal visit, and book ahead if you are going at weekends, during school holidays or at other busy times. Entry is timed, and combination tickets with nearby London attractions are often available. Add this to your list and spend an afternoon getting far closer to sharks and rays than you normally would in central London.
