Visit Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is often introduced by the spray of Victoria Falls, but the country keeps widening beyond it. Granite hills hold painted shelters, stone walls rise at Great Zimbabwe and dawn in a wildlife reserve begins with tracks appearing beside the road. Choose a route that joins at least two parts of the story. Victoria Falls can pair with Hwange for wildlife, Great Zimbabwe for the medieval city, or the Eastern Highlands for walking and quieter landscapes. Use responsible guides and locally owned services where they meet appropriate safety and welfare standards. Allow at least a week and preferably two or three. Check current entry, currency, health and official travel advice, carry contingency funds through lawful channels and avoid political demonstrations. Roads, fuel, power and medical access can be uneven; book important transfers and accommodation before travel. The quoted budget excludes international flights. Count this complete when you have experienced one natural landscape and one place that reveals Zimbabwean history or everyday life beyond a resort. The country belongs on a list for the connections between those experiences, not as a single dash to the edge of the falls.
