Walk on Hot Coals

Firewalking is a short barefoot crossing over a prepared bed of hot embers, usually carried out as part of an organised group event. It can appeal as an unusual personal challenge or shared occasion, but the visual drama should not be mistaken for evidence that it is harmless or that confidence alone prevents injury. Take part only through an experienced organiser that controls the fuel, fire bed, briefing, crossing order, exclusion criteria and first-aid arrangements. Listen to the full safety briefing, disclose relevant health concerns, and decide freely whether to cross; watching or withdrawing must remain acceptable. Burns and scalds can require urgent treatment, and this is not a do-it-yourself activity. Do not build a firewalk, practise on household materials, use alcohol or pressure another person to participate. Weather and ground conditions can change or cancel an event, so follow the organiser's decision on the day. Count this as complete after making one supervised crossing at a professionally managed event and completing the organiser's post-crossing checks. More crossings, longer beds or attempts made without professional control do not improve the achievement.
