Walk Through Lavender Fields in Provence, France

The colour appears before the scent. Long purple rows run towards pale hills, bees work close to the flowers and warm air carries lavender across a landscape of stone farmhouses and narrow roads. Flowering is seasonal and weather-dependent, usually strongest from late June into July, with higher areas often blooming later. Valensole, the Luberon and Sault offer different routes, villages and working farms rather than one guaranteed field. Check current local flowering and harvest information before travelling. Use public viewpoints or permitted paths, keep roads and gateways clear, never trample rows or pick flowers, wear closed shoes on stony ground and give bees space. Count it complete after walking a permitted route and learning something about how the crop is grown or distilled. Add it if you can enjoy the landscape as farmland first and a photograph second.
