Write your name in wet cement

A smooth grey surface has only a few minutes between workable and permanent. Draw one careful line and an ordinary repair or garden slab gains a date, a name and the unmistakable evidence that somebody was there when it was made. The responsible version belongs in concrete you own or have explicit permission to mark: a small garden feature, stepping stone or planned corner of a new slab. Test the lettering on scrap material and agree the exact position before the concrete arrives. Never mark public pavement, a neighbour's work or an active construction area. Wet cement is highly alkaline and can cause serious burns, so avoid skin contact, use a long-handled tool and suitable waterproof gloves and eye protection, wash splashes immediately and leave structural finishing to the responsible worker. Count it complete when your name or chosen initials cure legibly in an authorised piece without weakening or spoiling the work. Add it if a tiny lawful mark in something you helped make feels more meaningful than borrowed vandalism.
